The main goal of Open Transport Tycoon is to create the best company with higher company value. Your company value grows when you build trains, roads, stations, and airports and when you bought trains, buses, and airplanes but you need to make a profit to grow.
OpenTTD is a sandbox game so goals are on you. When you play solo you must say which goals you want to achieve. If you need some inspiration there are some tips:
- Make the biggest city on the map (you need passengers, and goods)
- Connect all coal mines from the map (it will be challenging)
- Make the most effective railroad (not drive empty)
- Play and make money just with passengers
If you don’t want to play with players but you need some challenges you could download AI to your game from “check online content” and try to beat them!
When I play with a friend we play on the biggest company value with a “cap” of £200 000 000. When you want to grow to this value you need to play just 5 – 7 hours. So it’s funny evening. The value of your company you could get here:

Which strategy is best for start OpenTTD?
The best thing how you could start is by creating a train line from the coal mine to the power plant. Because coal has the best stats when you transport it. To start you need just one line.

You need just start – one line – one train to make money. You need to search for some quick wins like was in the picture. Big coal mine near a power plant.
In-game is a dashboard that could find you the best opportunity you could search. You must filter by production (coal) and after that, you need to sort it from production.

You need to build 2 lines like this for the start and after some weeks (in-game) you will get enough money to build bigger trains line with two lanes and much more locomotives. When we are playing multiplayer OpenTTD with friends this is the best strategy to start.
