Cities Skylines 2 is announced for October 2023. We know from the developers what platforms Cities Skylines 2 will be available on. Let’s take a closer look at all the platforms Cities Skylines 2 should be available on.
For the fist let’s look on platforms details which I put on one place…

… so now you know where to play Cities Skylines 2. I myself will be playing Cities Skylines 2 on a Windows PC that I will be building for the game. The question is about platforms with ❓which are platforms which aren’t confirmed from official sources.
I believe that in the end we will not be disappointed and the game will be playable. However, I’m a bit worried that the next sequel will be a bit more performance intensive than today’s version of Cities Skylines. More details you should get on System Requirement.
Console release date delayed
On 28th of September was delayed release date for console edition which has been determined to spring 2024. At the same time, the hardware requirements of Cities Skylines 2 have been increased. So watch out for that.
When will we get details about other platforms?
That’s a good question. If you look on the developer’s Twitter, you can see responses like…
We will have much more to share about Cities: Skylines II in the months to come
… so I think we will have to wait for answers from the community managers for now. I’m seeing questions about GeForce Now and macOS. I just hope their community managers are ready to answer all our questions and won’t do it to punk.

More details about game like compatibility Cities Skylines 1 and Cities Skylines 2, details about multiplayer or leaks.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be on Xbox Game Pass on day one?
Yes, it’s confirmed that Cities Skylines 2 will be available on Xbox Game Pass on day one. This source can be seen on Twitter. But there’s a question about the future DLC policy, hence this will be available on Steam.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be on GeForce Now?
The biggest question for me is the availability on GeForce Now. In fact, based on the potential system requirements, Ge Force Now may be the best choice. With GeForce Now, the game is streamed to your computer via internet. In this case all you need is good Internet.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be on macOS?
For me, it is a big question because I’m a macOS player and I’m used to playing on my MacBook Pro but as I mention I will be building Windows PC. The latest informations about macOS are that there isn’t be support. Developers are working on current platforms which are announced as they mentioned here:
If there will be GeForce Now, I don’t think it will be that big of a deal. However, it is always better to have it on your own computer and play it like you want it. So macOS players need to wait for future or pray for GeForce Now.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be supported on Linux systems?
I don’t expect Cities Skylines 2 to be available on Linux. The current Cities Skylines does not support this operating system, so I think it will be the same for the new version. However, the developers said they are starting development from scratch and there are no convertible saves, so the question is whether they will have it easier now.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be available on old consoles?
For now, we also don’t know if Cities Skylines 2 will be available on old consoles like PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. If I understand it correctly, the console version of Cities Skylines was made for them by someone else and now they will be making it themselves. I assume that if Cities Skylines 2 is brand new and in development in the near future (unless they’ve been working on it for the last 4 years), it will be primarily aimed at new consoles.
Will Cities Skylines 2 be on mobiles?
No, because mobile devices aren’t powerful enough to handle game simulations like Cities Skylines.
